School Programs

Cowboy Clothing

Program #1: Instructional program about why cowboys wear some of the items that they do. What are chaps and spurs for? Why are their hats so big? After the tour and lesson, students will decorate their own cowboy hat. The program can run between 1 and 2 hours depending on the amount of time used for touring and decorating. The cost of the program is included in the entrance fee. Reservations, with an accurate head count, must be made no less than two weeks prior to the event to ensure that staff and supplies are available. This program is only available Monday – Friday.

Sportsmanship

Program #2: Cowboy events are different than many other sports. Students will meet a real rodeo athlete and learn about the preparation and dedication that it takes to win in this sport. After the tour and lesson, students will create their own championship buckle out of clay. The program can run between 1 and 2 hours depending on the amount of time used for touring and decorating. The cost of the program is included in the entrance fee. Reservations, with an accurate head count, must be made no less than two weeks prior to the event to ensure that staff and supplies are available. This program is only available Monday – Friday.

Rodeo Horses

Program #3: Horses are the main animals used in rodeo. They are major participants in every event except bull riding. Learn about how horses came to be such a big part of rodeo and what they do in their off time. Depending on availability, a real horse will be on site and included in part of the tour. After the tour and lesson, students will create a paper bag horse puppet to take home. The program can run between 1 and 2 hours depending on the amount of time used for touring and decorating. The cost of the program is included in the entrance fee. Reservations, with an accurate head count, must be made no less than one week prior to the event to ensure that staff and supplies are available. The program is only available Monday – Friday.
